About Gene Simmons

Posted on Jul 21st, 2006 by Martin : Kosmos Surfer Martin

While these guys have a massive global following, I've never been a big fan of KISS. For one, their music really never appealed to me. For two, there's something about guys in makeup and a demon with a bloody tongue that simply puts me off.

But when Sterling and Jay of Internet Business Mastery mentioned Gene Simmons's new book, Sex Money Kiss, I had to take notice and check out what the fuss was all about. While Mr. Simmons hardly exemplifies the integral lifestyle that I subscribe to, he had a few points that served as food for thought, notably:

  1. The role of marriage in society
  2. The dramatic differences between men and women
  3. The importance of money in our lives
  4. How money ties into love

The book reviews are definitely polarized: either you hate it or love it. I, for one, give it thumbs up. It's a worthwhile read, whether you hate it or love it, because it's not warm. It's either freezing or boiling, and it'll force you to check into your values. What do you stand for?

Check it out if you have a chance.

Increidbly weird day

Posted on Jul 20th, 2006 by Martin : Kosmos Surfer Martin

This has been an incredibly weird day. My buddy Alexchua sent me a message that sent me through the rabbithole, looking for all kinds of connections tied to the movie The Secret.

Michael from VisionForce also contacted me with some really welcome information. He's definitely a soulmate and I recommend his work to anyone who's truly committed to excellence and living up to the highest standards for themselves.

I was a panelist at the 3rd Journalism Conference today here in São Luis, discussing Global Corporations Communication Strategies in the new Millenium. I couldn't help but have the Zaadz and Working For Good integral, holistic perspective in mind. We have long ways to go here in Brazil, my friends.

That's why I'm here.

I just discovered the Working for Good website, as indicated by Jeff Klein -- Babajeff here at Zaadz. It's definitely something you want to check out.

Reading: How good is it for you and can it get bad?

Posted on Jul 14th, 2006 by Martin : Kosmos Surfer Martin

Yesterday, my friend Roberto pointed out to me how many books he has to read and, instantly, I connected with him. It's unbelievable how many books I'm reading and that I WANT to read. It seems that the most interesting people that I connect with are avid, voracious readers who devour virtually anything they can get their hands on, from encyclopedias all the way to the information printed on the back on their hair conditioner bottle. They are massively curious individuals who are on an undending quest for bettering themselves, identifying solutions to problem and finding problems for the solutions they identify.

Which leads me to wonder.... Is reading exclusively good for us? Can reading become hurtful at some point? I mean, not in the sense that we may tire our eyes, but strictly in a psychological sense. Any ideas on that?

My new goal for Zaadz

Posted on Jul 14th, 2006 by Martin : Kosmos Surfer Martin

I woke up today in a spirit of getting things done. As far as Zaadz is concerned, my goal is to have 100 people signed up on my pod by next week and to stimulate to the max interaction and the sharing of ideas on it.

My plan for getting that done is to send out at least 400 invites in the next few days to get the word out. Help me out! Tell all of your friends, check out the pod, and above all, contribute to it!

George Carlin in his prime

Posted on Jul 13th, 2006 by Martin : Kosmos Surfer Martin

For those of you who can't get enough of George Carlin, check out his rap about the Modern Man here.

As delightful as ever, Carlin satirically portraits 21st century society and what it's become. I've always been amazed by the powerful mix of philosophy and humor that Carlin brings to all of his stand-up routines. In my opinion, he stands far and above other comedians specifically because of this exquisite blend. The only one that could possibly compete would be Robert Anton Wilson.

If you've never been to a live Carlin routine, you definitely missed out. I can tell from the video that George is getting old and might not be around for much longer to entertain us. Enjoy him while you can!
